When is it time for replacement? 5 things to look for in your HVAC system

1. Increasing energy bills: A heating or air conditioning system nearing the end of its life may become inefficient. If your energy bills have gone up significantly, it could be a sign yours is due to be replaced.

2. Frequent repairs: If it feels like you are constantly calling for HVAC service, it might be more cost-effective to replace the system.

3. Uneven climate control: Hot or cold spots in your home can indicate a problem with your HVAC system's design and/or functioning. We talk about this more in our post, [link to "why is heat not distributing evenly in my house"]

4. Strange noises: Rattling, banging, or other unusual sounds could be a sign of a serious issue.

5. Decreasing air quality: If you are noticing more dust, allergens, or other indoor air quality problems, there might be malfunctions in your HVAC system.

Overall, the average lifespan of an HVAC system hovers around 10-15 years for A/C, and 15-20 for a furnace. If yours is approaching this age, and/or you notice any of the above, we can schedule a time to take a look.
